Review : St. Ives Blemish Control Apricot Scrub

Hi peeps,

Today I would like to share my experience of using St. Ives Apricot Scrub from their Blemish Control line. They have a lot of other lines but since I have a very oily acne prone skin, I figured that this would work best for my skin type.

I believe they have two packaging sizes, and I picked the bigger one. Since I love to scrub my face, I think buying the bigger one saves a lot more in the long run. I bought mine at Watson's drugstore near my local area. St. Ives product is quite popular in Malaysia so I guess you won't have any problem in getting this product.

Okay now let's talk about the product. I got this scrub about 2 ~ 3 months ago, so I have pretty much get the hang of using it. In the label, it was mentioned that for best result, use 3 to 4 times a week. Well, to be honest, I love scrubbing my face. Although it is not recommended to use scrub everyday but I did it anyways and my face does not have any problem with it (my skin can handle a LOT btw haha).

As you can see the picture above, the bigger packaging weighs around 170g. It also says that this scrub could prevent blackheads and minimizes pores. I agree to the claim that it prevents blackheads but not so much on the minimizing pores. I love that it helps my skin feels clean and refreshed after using it plus it does not have any tightening effect (which some scrubs has). Just to be sure not to scrub your face too hard or you would get redness especially if you have sensitive skin.

At the back of the packaging, you can see that the formulation is hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic, oil-free, no parabens and phthalates and it has also been dermatology tested. It has 2% salicylic acid which is great for acne prone skin people (like me).

Below is the product swatched on my skin, so you can get a better picture of what product you get when you purchase it. If you ever used St. Ives scrub before, I think you can expect this kind of consistency. Same ol' same ol'.

Okay now, my conclusion on this product:
  1. Great scrub to have if you have an oily acne prone skin. It helps to clean all the junk in your face and it makes your skin smooth and soft after you wash your face.
  2. No tightening after-effect. For me it's a +1000!
  3. Very affordable. If you don't like to splurge too much on a scrub or you are like me who loves to try a lot of product, this is something you can consider without making your purse cringe.
The price: Retail price is ~RM18 for 170g (depends on where you purchase it).
